
Alleged Molotov cocktail-throwing man arrested by Corning Police – Crimson Bluff Every day Information
CORNING — A person was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly throwing a molotov cocktail at police.
Corning Police Division officers investigated a loud banging noise coming from outdoors their station, in line with a press launch issued Thursday by CPD.
An officer tried to contact Cassidy Russ, 32, of Corning, who was strolling away from the police division onto Solano Road.
Russ was fumbling with an merchandise close to the entrance of his waistband as he was strolling away, ignoring officers, the discharge mentioned.
One other officer in a patrol automotive stopped on the 700 block of Fourth Road and reportedly gave Russ verbal instructions. Police say that’s when Russ lit what was later decided to be a Molotov cocktail and threw it towards the officer.

The projectile missed the officer and exploded close to a parked car. Russ fled on foot westbound on Solano Road.
Officers pursued Russ on foot and in a patrol automotive. An off-duty officer reportedly tackled Russ on the 1300 block of Solano Road.
Russ resisted arrest by concealing his arms by his waistband and backpack. He continued to withstand arrest throughout baton strikes and ache compliance strategies. Officers finally took Russ into custody by inserting him in handcuffs beneath sustained resistance.
He was later transported and booked into the Tehama County Jail for tried homicide, possession of an explosive system, arson, battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $1 million.
A neighborhood enterprise proprietor needed to transfer a parked car the place the explosion occurred, which resulted in a hearth. He extinguished the fireplace.
Earlier to this incident, Russ was the suspect in a separate incident on July 26, 2022, regarding him throwing a Molotov cocktail close to the Corning Police Division close to a staging space for marked patrol autos.
Russ had an energetic arrest warrant from that incident when he was arrested on today.
